The more accessibility and features we add to make us more like a retail store, the more we have to add to our overheads, which then inevitably end up in price rises on the products themselves -- which defeats the purpose we set out to achieve way back in 2005; offering brand names at the lowest prices possible.

Staff, connection, equipment and call costs to offer phone sales and support costs a minimum of $35,000 per year. Dividing that minimum figure by average sales volume, each product must have an extra $14-$15 added to the price in order to pay for a service that only 15% of all buyers use. With the extensive knowledge we have of our products, there are only a handful of recurring problems that make up all support queries. To deal with these queries by phone, it takes an average call time of 5-10 minutes. To deal with the same problem by email takes an average of 2-3 minutes.

Over the past 12 months, we have queried phone customers as to whether they would switch to email communication if it meant an extra $10-$15 off the product cost, and the response was overwhelmingly in favour of the lower price.
